Happy New Year! Thank you for the incredible outpouring of support for GLI in our year-end campaign. We experienced a record number of contributions, including more donations from program alumni than ever before, for a total of $40,000! This support will help us develop new programs, bring our current programs into new communities, and offer our workshops to families and teachers who need help with paying program fees. We wouldn’t be here for the hundreds of participants we reach each month without your help. Thank you.
January is the season of resolutions and fresh starts. Take a look at some ideas I have about how to approach New Year’s resolutions for the benefit of girls and their leadership development in my blog. If you are
a parent or teacher looking for support in being the best possible role model for your daughter or student in 2014, don’t miss out on this spring’s program lineup. We are in more towns, schools, churches, temples, and community centers than ever before. (We’re even running a successful program in a real estate office!)

Girl Meets World in Boston – April 7-9 2014
Registration for our spring Girl Meets World Professional Development Training (GMW) is now open! Taught by GLI co-founder and bestselling author Rachel Simmons (Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls and The Curse of the Good Girl: Raising Authentic Girls with Courage and Confidence), the GMW program trains participants to deliver high-quality social-emotional education for girls.
You’ll connect with colleagues from all over the world, receive individualized coaching from GLI Co-Founders Rachel Simmons and Simone Marean, and expand your repertoire of lesson plans, games, and icebreakers for girls.

2014: A Year of Leadership!
Is there any better way to start a new year than committing to help your daughter be her strongest and freest self? This is the ideal time of year to check out the Parent and Daughter programs in your community and find one that works for you. We’ve never had more offerings in more locations. Parents and daughters love the one-on-one time in our programs and come away with tools for improved communication, especially in tricky conflict situations. We welcome returning families; no one can have enough opportunities to learn these life-changing skills. Our fourth and fifth graders now have two Parent and Daughter programs to choose from: our original Parent and Daughter Series and our Parent and Daughter Friendship Series. GLI Celebrates 5-Year Anniversary
We’re kicking off our fifth year, and we couldn’t be more excited! From empowering 15 girls to 7,000 and beyond, we’ve come a long way, and we hope you’ll join us in celebrating this milestone.
GLI’s history as an organization is unique. We have been a nonprofit for five years, but we have a proven record of success that spans over a decade. The content at the heart of GLI began as a one-week summer camp in 2001 that changed the lives of a handful of high school girls. Since that first summer, we’ve evolved into an organization that reaches close to 7,000 participants annually. Our unusual approach garnered national attention, and in 2008 we were invited personally by Oprah Winfrey to teach at her Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa. In 2009 GLI became a nonprofit, and as we’ve evolved, so have our program offerings. We’ve added year-round programs for families, educators, and girls as young as five years old, in addition to programs in more regions: California, Colorado, New York, and New Jersey. This year, we are also launching content-dissemination and research initiatives, striving to offer more scholarships so more families can attend our programs, and growing the number of fully funded programs we provide in our regions.
