Gen Z for Planet A!!
The Girls Advisory Board (GAB) of Girls Leadership is exercising the power of their voice and is excited to announce the 2022-2023 cohort conference! The conference is called “Gen Z for Planet A” and will take place Sunday, May 21st from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm PDT | 1:30 pm- 5:30 pm EDT. We will be focusing on climate change and we will have inspiring panelists joining us for workshops and speeches. Some of the topics that will be addressed in the conference are:
- Environmental racism
- Food deserts
- Fast fashion
- Pollution
- And much more!!!
We will discuss what these issues are, how they affect us, current examples and ways you can help. Join us in this step towards combating environmental issues and the fight against climate change!!

Olivia
My name is Olivia and I am a sophomore in the High School for Environmental Studies. I have been writing for a very long time but have been especially attached to poetry. In my work, I focus mainly on emotions and the human experience. I find that much of my work is inspired, not by what actually happened, but rather by the emotions that come with it. Those are my main inspirations.

Jackie Fawn
Jackie Fawn is a graphic illustrator currently residing in Akwesasne, Mohawk Territory. Her art has been recognized in Indigenous spaces by her vivid depictions of warrior women defending the land and people against modern day colonialism. In recent years, Jackie’s work has begun to enter educational curriculum, environmental organizations, and health campaigns to raise Indigenous resiliency and healing. She is a self-taught artist that has been greatly influenced by creative resistance tactics taught by artists Cy Wagoner (Navajo), and Martin Aranaydo (Muvskoke/O’Odham/Pinay). Jackie is a 2021 NDN Collective’s Radical Imagination and 2022 Creatives Rebuild NY grantee. With these opportunities, the doors to Fishbear Studios were opened, a creative space geared towards cultivating radical arts within her community. Jackie’s first major studio project, “Colors of the Land”, a decolonial coloring book on recent Indigenous led movements, is set for release this fall.
Tara Houska
Tara Houska is a citizen of Couchiching First Nation, a tribal attorney, land defender, environmental and Indigenous rights advocate, and founder of the Giniw Collective, an Indigenous women, two-spirit-led frontline resistance to defend the sacred and live in balance. Ms. Houska was active in resisting the Line 3 oil pipeline, the Dakota Access pipeline, and is heavily involved in the movement to defund fossil fuels. She is a TED speaker, the recipient of the 2021 American Climate Leadership Award and the 2019 Rachel’s Network Catalyst Award. Ms. Houska served as an advisor on Native American affairs to Senator Bernie Sanders, and co-founded Not Your Mascots, a non-profit committed to promoting positive representation of Native Americans in the public sphere. She has written for the women-led climate anthology “All We Can Save”, the New York Times, CNN, Vogue, and Indian Country Today. Tara earned a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
Krystal Two Bulls
Krystal is an Oglala Lakota and Northern Cheyenne organizer and the former Director of the NDN Collective’s Landback Campaign. She is a grassroots organizer with experience on the frontlines with campaign development and management around social, racial and environmental justice. Krystal’s identity as a Native American veteran is central to her organizing and storytelling. At the heart of Krystal’s work is Sovereignty, LANDBACK, cross movement relationship building and a deep commitment to her People. In healing from her experience as a veteran, Krystal has dedicated herself to embodying what she views as the essential quality of a warrior: a commitment to the well-being of not only her People and their relationship to the land, but that of all Peoples.
Dioganhdih Hall
Dioganhdih Hall (they/she/he) Akwesasne Mohawk, Dio is a hip hop artist, educator and public speaker. Dioganhdih has a BA in Communication Studies from State University of New York (SUNY) at Cortland. Dio has worked in tech at 3D printing company, Makerbot and music streaming platform, Soundcloud, where they were instrumental in launching various Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and served as an Unconscious Bias facilitator. Since Standing Rock, Dio has focused their energy and art towards working with first nations youth and supporting frontline work in indigenous communities across Turtle Island. In 2021, Dio self released their LP, Rezbien. They are currently engaged in advocacy work on first-nation territories with their collective, Turtle Island Apothecary. Dio is also farming, tending an herb garden and developing a LGBTQIA Haudenosaunee coalition.Notable projects include presenting with Left Forum on Building Transformative Futures, speaking at Center for Humanities at CUNY Graduate Center, presenting with Columbia’s EthnoMusicology Department, headlining at First People’s Festival in Ithaca, NY, presenting at Lesbians Who Tech at Twitter Headquarters, delivering keynote speeches at Indigenous Feminisms Conference at Yale University, IvyQueer Conference at Brown University, and Duke’s Triangle Queer Conference. Recently, Dioganhdih has designed a Digital & Cloud Literacy class with Mohawk Council of Akwesasne for formerly incarcerated adults living on the Akwesasne Territory. Dioganhdih has also presented work with student organizations at Stanford, George Mason, and Brown University’s Women History Series. Dioganhdih has performed internationally at Club Gretchen in Berlin, Asinabka Film & Media Festival in Ottawa, House of Vans in Brooklyn, Women’s Audio Mission in San Francisco, the SoundCloud Summer Party in Berlin, Pride Toronto, The Art House in New Orleans, on the frontlines at Oceti Sakowin Standing Rock, in countless DJ booths, stoops, bodegas, rooftops and park benches. Dioganhdih’s music has been reviewed in The Fader, CBC Music, Afropunk, BitchMedia, APTN’s Digital Drum.
