We enjoyed an incredible community of girls at our camp this summer. They took risks on the ropes course, in art projects, and most importantly, in sharing their authentic selves. While we try to capture it in our photos, it is hard to communicate the inspiration, energy, and joy that comes from 185 girls living lives of leadership. Leah, a high school camper, summarized it best:
“I have always thought that if I conquer the world, then I will love myself. Now I know that that is not true. I know now that if I love myself, then I will conquer the world.”
As we pack up our extreme Slip ‘N Slide, oversized soccer balls, and wig collection for the close of camp, we are already preparing for our fall season of Parent and Daughter programs. There is no better time to bond with your daughter and learn new tools together than the beginning of the school year. We have over 70 programs open for registration in the SF Bay Area, throughout Colorado, in Northern New Jersey, and New York City. We have a new 4th and 5th grade program on Navigating Difficult Friendships and a new eight-hour series for middle school girls and their parents. Five hundred people have already signed up! Can’t afford program fees? Fill out our scholarship application form. Don’t see a program that meets your needs? Contact your local Outreach Manager to bring a program to your own school. It’s easier than you think.

GLI’s New Monthly Donor Program
With the start of a new school year and the beautiful fall season, August brings excitement and promise to many people. This is also true for GLI; this school year we will roll out our new strategic plan aimed at deepening our impact. In 2013, we reached close to seven thousand girls, parents, and educators. In 2014, we want that number to grow substantially. To extend our reach, we will increase programming and launch two exciting initiatives: research and content dissemination.
You can help us start the year strong by joining our new Monthly Donor Program. A recurring gift of any amount – $10, $20, or $50 – ensures a steady stream of support to GLI throughout the year. Simone on Tour
This fall, GLI Co-Founder and Executive Director Simone Marean will be touring the country with her presentation Raising Resilient Girls. Simone will share with parents and teachers how to help girls practice assertive self-expression, emotional intelligence, and healthy relationships, preparing them to approach conflict as an opportunity for positive change.
