Ting-Sheng Vivian Liao

Vivian comes to Girls Leadership after more than 15 years of experience in science education and school administration. She has worked with K-12 as well as college students as an instructor, summer program director, and innovation/technology administrator. While teaching at Westridge School for Girls in Pasadena, Vivian witnessed joy and freedom as girls participated in programming that prioritizes their needs and is committed to making such an experience available to more girls nationwide. Outside of the education field, she has also been a research biologist, air quality engineer, and entrepreneur. Vivian is passionate about using innovation to empower people and improve justice and environmental sustainability.

Vivian earned a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Duke University. She received an M.A. in Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Vivian was born in Taiwan but spent most of her life in Los Angeles. After moving to the Bay Area in 2019, she has fallen in love with the abundance of nature and cooler weather here. She lives in Oakland with her partner Alex and a cat named Dr. House.
