Sylvia Hathaway is an actress and teaching artist in the (sometimes) sunny city of San Francisco. She moved to the Bay Area in 2006 (having grown up in Cleveland, OH and being utterly done with snow). With a B.A. in Theatre from Indiana University of PA and a near lifetime of dance training in tow, Sylvia began her theatre career as an Education Fellow with Berkeley Repertory Theatre. In the intervening years she has taught, designed curriculum and/or managed programs for companies such as New Conservatory Theatre (SF, CA), TheatreWorks (Palo Alto, CA), Children’s Fairyland (Oakland, CA), Creative Arts Charter School (SF, CA), Berkeley Playhouse (Berkeley, CA), and Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Berkeley, CA). As an artist, Sylvia enjoys working on cutting edge new plays, dance theatre and devised work. She is passionate about creating theatre with and for youth, and strives to produce and support performing art works that are relevant and vital to communities whose voices are not typically encouraged in our society. She proudly resides in the city’s Mission District with her cat, Cheddar Cheese, and their dog, Kita.
