Shataya joins Girls Leadership with over 15 years in youth and community development, with a keen focus on women’s and girls’ empowerment. Working as an Urban Educator in the Washington Metropolitan area is where she found a call to create and facilitate spaces for marginalized and disempowered youth to be heard, empowered, and valued. During that time she’s worked with various nonprofit organizations creating development strategies, training, and leadership opportunities for youth and youth advocates to sharpen and expand leadership skills in schools and communities.
